Museo del Palacio de la Medicina, Mexico City
I will soon be visiting the Museum of Medicine with David Newman MD, cardiologist and electrophysiologist from Toronto, Canada. Dr. Newman is particularly interested in the history of medicine and this museum contains brilliantly curated objects reflecting the history of medicine in Mexico. The museum is housed in the 18th century palace of the Inquisition, and it has galleries containing objects from the various branches of medicine, such as reconstructive surgery, embryology and histology. The museum also has temporary art exhibitions, and I hope to exhibit my body of work Il Cuore Aperto, which incorporates histological images from stem cell research regarding the heart.
