The Woman Who Becomes A Bird

an evolving tale  of transformation

2017-present

There was an ancient society of women who wrote in a secret language that looked very much like the footprints of birds.  When the language was spoken, it was like the whisper of bird tracks and the murmur of wings.  The words carried their longing to rise above the weight of duty, beyond the rational mind, over a land of rules and into a sky of freedom:  they dreamed of becoming birds. One day a white bird appeared to one of the women and told her that if she covered herself in chalk-white paste, and donned the mask of the white bird, she herself could become a bird. This series consists of photographs and collages which reveal her transformative process.
