After I moved to Mexico, I became so much more aware of the presence of Birds. As I was daydreaming and walking along a path in the Mexican countryside, I discovered a Black Bird lying lifeless on the ground. I was struck by my sense of grief, and in honor of this solitary bird, I began to take photographs of his dark and feathery, iridescent body. These are the images which emerged and which became the beginning of this series about birds and becoming.
